Trekking in winters is a different experience in itself. The cold, the wind, the negative temperatures.
Your options will be limited during the winters due to snowfall. Most of the treks are not open. BUT, here is a list of few treks open all year round.
Kuari Pass- Also known as the Curzon’s Trail, Kuari Pass takes you through the unexplored wilderness of Uttarakhand. One can spot the 2nd highest (Nanda Devi) and 3rd highest (Kamet) peaks of India during the trek.
Dayara Bugyal- One of the most famous treks in Uttarakhand, Dayara Bugyal is completely blanketed under the snow during the winters. The trek offers grand views of the Gangotri range.
Nag Tibba trek- A beginner’s trek and accessible during the winter months? What else do we need with the added bonus of majestic views. One can spot Bandarpoonch range and Mt. Kalanag from the top.
Chopta Chandrashila- Summit to the peak of Chandrashila via Chopta and Tungnath to enjoy the 360 degree views of Himalayan ranges including the Chaukhamba massif.
Kedarkantha- Kedarkantha is India’s most famous trek during the winters. Reaching the summit is definitely rewarding for the views from the top are grandeur.
Gurson Bugyal- Gurson Bugyal is a small 3km hike from Auli to the top the meadow. You can either trek or catch the ropeway!
Devban- One of the most under rated treks in Uttatkhand, Devban Trek takes you through the dense forests of Kanasar. It is the perfect weekend destination tucked inside a forest.
Ali Bedni Bugyal- A great alternative to the famous Roopkund trek, Ali Bedni Trek is a perfect combination of meadows, dense forests and pahadi villages!
